Appointment

The Secretary-General is appointed by the President on the recommendation of the Executive Council after the approval of the Hon'ble Chief Rector and the Chairperson. The Secretary-General's selection is therefore subject to the nomination of the Chief Rector, Chairperson, and any of the three permanent members of the Executive Council. 

Mr. Faizur Rehman Sherwani, the fifth Secretary-General of the SSF, took office on February 2, 2023. His predecessors were:

• Mr. Mohd Faizan (Uttar Pradesh), who held office from November 2022 to February 2023

• Mr. Mohd Adnan (Uttar Pradesh), who held office from December 2021 to November 2022

• Mr. Md. Tauseef (Jharkhand), who held office from August 2018 to December 2021

• Er. Qauid Hussain (Uttar Pradesh), who held from April 2017 to August 2018

Although the number of terms a Secretary-General may hold is unlimited. He may continue working until he gives his own resignation.
